Korean-American Organization of Lexington

Our first K-Festival has been realized! We were happy to see that it was enjoyed by a diverse audience, some coming from other towns, who wanted to experience Korean culture. We had 300 people register through eventbrite and met new members and friends, while receiving great support from our town. Huge thanks to Youngshin Park, Sun Young Park, and Sunny Kim who among many other things lead the effort of our terrific KOLex volunteers—we would like to gather for an appreciation lunch soon. Thank you as well to our excellent MCs Kiwon Shin and Alex Yi and our student volunteers from LHS and KSLC. We are grateful to our sponsors Premier Realty Group, Merrill, Korean American Society of Massachusetts (KASOM), and Russian School of Mathematics.  We hope to hear your feedback about the event, and please post your pictures!

첫번째 k-페스티벌이 개최되었습니다. 한국 문화를 경험해 보기 위해 여러 타운에서 오신 분들 다양한 분들이 이번 행사를 즐겨주셔서 기뻤습니다. 300여명이 eventbrite를 통해 등록하시고 오셨고, 현장에서 새로 코렉스에 가입한 분도 계셨습니다. 렉싱턴 타운에서 많은 도움을 주셨고, 코렉스 임원 실비아 한, 박영신, 박선영, 김영선씨와 코렉스의 훌륭한 많은 발런티어들께 감사를 전합니다. 진행을 맡아 주신 신기원씨와 알렉스 이씨와 렉싱턴 하이 스쿨과 KSLC학생 발런티어에게도 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 후원을 해주신  Premier Realty Group, Merrill, Korean American Society of Massachusetts (KASOM), and Russian School of Mathematics 감사드립니다.

KOLex가 한국 문화를 알리기 위해 처음으로 렉싱턴에서 K-페스티벌을 개최합니다. 이번 K- 페스티벌에는 맛있는 한국음식과 생동감 있는 공연으로 채워질 것입니다. 전통음악으로부터 요즘 유행하는 음악까지 한국 음악, 케이팝 댄스, 한국미술과 전통 놀이를 즐겨보세요. 래플에 참여하시면 한국 간식이나 한국 화장품이 가득 담긴 바구니에 당첨되실 수 있습니다.

Today we held our annual spring meeting at the Lexington Community Center. We were happy to see a larger group attend than before, and with this energy we began to discuss the upcoming conversion into a non-profit organization. We also discussed the upcoming events, including the K-festival, which garnered lots of interest and ideas. We hope that you are just as excited about this event, which will showcase the many successes of Korean culture. Below is the brief schedule for our events.

봄기운이 물씬 풍기는 4월 초하루인 오늘, 렉싱턴 커뮤니티센터에서 코렉스 봄모임을 가졌습니다. 평소보다 많은 분들이 참석하셔서 화기애애한 분위기 속에 그동안의 활동, 예산집행 및 비영리단체로의 전환에 관한 설명이 있었고, 앞으로 다가올 행사와 활동에 대한 소개가 있었습니다. 특별히 6월에 처음으로 개최하는 코렉스 ‘K-festival’ 를 준비하는데 있어 여러분들의 큰 관심과 아이디어가 돋보였습니다. 함께하는 기쁨 뿐만 아니라 한국인으로서의 긍지와 위상을 높여줄 다가오는 행사에 많은 참여와 관심 부탁드리며 향후 일정을 알려드립니다.

Today many of our KOLex families gathered to celebrate our special, comforting holiday, Seollal. We would like to thank those who helped put together the event, and we wish everyone that a happy, healthy year lies ahead of them.
