Korean-American Organization of Lexington

Diamond Middle School’s 7th grade team Tenacity had their Museum of Korea exhibit. The students learned about Korea’s geography, history, culture, etc. From interviews of Korean parents, they also learned about Korean immigration to America. They got to make Korean artifacts, and eat Korean food.
We thank the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Boston and KOLex executives and KOLex members who were interviewed by students for this event.

Diamond Middle School 7학년 Tenacity 팀에서 <Museum of Korea> 를 개최하였습니다. 지난 몇 주간 학생들은 한국의 지리, 역사, 문화 등에 대해 배우고 학부모 인터뷰를 통해 한국 이민자의 삶에 대해 알게 되었으며, 한국에 관한 전시물을 직접 만들고 한국 음식 맛보기 등을 체험하였습니다.
<Museum of Korea>가 성공적으로 끝날 수 있도록 큰 도움을 주신 주보스턴 대한민국 총영사관과 코렉스 임원진, 그리고 인터뷰에 응해주신 코렉스 회원분들께도 깊은 감사드립니다.

The AAPI 5K Walk ‘n’ Run was held at the field house of Lexington High School. KOLex participated with a culture booth where they displayed a panel about Korea, traditional Hanbok, as well as traditional games, like Tuho, Ddakji-chigi, and Jegi-chagi. We thank all the high school volunteers, the KOLex board members, and all the other KOLex members for attending and running the booth.

렉싱턴 고등학교의 필드 하우스에서 AAPI 5K Walk n’ Run 행사가 열렸습니다. 코렉스에서는 Korea Culture Booth를 열어서 한국을 알리는 패널과 한복 등을 전시하고, 투호, 딱지 치기, 제기 차기 등의 전통 놀이를 진행하였습니다. 원활한 행사 진행을 도와준 고등학생 자원 봉사자들과 임원진, 그리고 참석해 주신 모든 회원분들께 감사드립니다.

The “My American Story” Webinar was held by CALex(Chinese Americans of Lexington) and KOLex cosponsored the event with seven other organizations. There were seven panelists, and Caroline Yang, who is a member of KOLex, attended as a representative. She shared about her story as an immigrant coming to America as a high schooler along with the cultural differences and the challenges they presented.

CALex(Chinese Americans of Lexington)가 주최하고 KOLex 등 8개 단체가 후원하는 “My American Story” Webinar가 열렸습니다. 이날 행사에는 각 단체에서 7명의 패널이 참석하였고, KOLex에서는 현회원이신 양희영(Caroline Yang)님이 대표로 참석하여, 고등학교 시절 미국으로 이민와서 영어를 알아듣지 못했던 어려움, 낯선 문화에 대한 이질감, 대학 입시의 걱정등 이민 생활에 대한 소중한 경험을 공유해 주셨습니다.
KOLex를 대표해 참석해 주신 양희영(Caroline Yang)님께 다시 한번 감사드립니다.

KOLex held a semi-annual 2021-2022 spring online meeting. All the past events that KOLex hosted and participated in last year were explained. Support for Diamond Middle School’s social studies project, “Korea Museum”, was also discussed. There was also a time for Q&A regarding students and school.
We thank everyone that attended the meeting.

2021-2022 봄 정기 모임이 있었습니다. 이번 모임에서는 지난 해 KOLex에서 주최했던 이벤트들과 다이아몬드 중학교 7학년 소셜스터디 (Korea Museum) 수업 지원에 관한 프로젝트 소개를 하고, 자녀들의 학교 생활에 관한 Q&A 시간도 가졌습니다.

KOLex executive members held their second 2021-2022 online meeting. They discussed KOLex management, amending bylaws, support for the Diamond Middle School social studies project, Korea Museum, and the project from the Asian in Library event.
