Korean-American Organization of Lexington

The executive committee of KOLex held an online Zoom meeting for the KOLex semi-annual meeting. In the meeting the committee discussed what they could do for the community amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as what events they would be able to hold in the future.

2020-2021 가을 정기 모임을 위한 임원진 온라인 회의가 있었습니다. 이 회의에서 코비드-19 팬데믹인 상황에서 KOLex가 커뮤니티를 위해 할 수 있는 역할과 앞으로 참여 가능한 이벤트에 관해 논의하였습니다.

World Language Week 준비 모임이었고, 함께 해주신 분들께 감사드립니다.

This year at Diamond Middle School World Language Week, KOLex, led by Caroline Yang, educated students about Korean culture, focusing in on examples like K-Pop and the movie Parasite. Young-sun Kim taught students a K-pop dance.

안녕하세요~오늘 다이아몬드 중학교의 World language week 행사에 저희 다이아몬드 코리안 학부모회가 참여했습니다. 7학년 불어와 중국어를 듣는 아이들을 대상으로 오전 오후 두번의 프리젠테이션이 있었습니다. 먼저 한국의 kpop, 영화 parasite등에 대해 양희영 씨의 설명이 있었고 그 다음으로 김영선 씨의 지도아래 BTS의 춤을 배워보는 시간이 있었습니다. 아이들이 생각외로 아주 즐거워하며 배웠고요^^ 마지막으로 딱지접기를 하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

준비모임부터 오늘 모임까지 참여해주시고 물심양면 도와주신 학부모님들 감사드립니다!!

A group of KOLex student representatives, led by Youngseo Yi, created and ran a Korean exhibit at LHS National Honor Society’s Multi-Cultural Festival. The exhibit spread awareness about Korean culture by providing Korean food and snacks, clothing, and Taekwondo.

Lexington High School, National Honor Society가 주관하는 Multicultural Festival 에 고등학교 학생들이 Korean booth 를 만들어 참여하였습니다. KOLex에서는 학생들이 행사때에 나누어 줄 한국 과자 및 음료를 지원해주었으며 한복을 대여해 주었습니다. 친구들에게 한국을 알리기 위해 어른들 도움없이 학생들이 직접 준비하고 진행하는 행사를 지원할 수 있게 되어 기쁘고 감사하게 생각합니다. 또한 서로 협력하고 수고하는 학생들의 모습이 참 대견했습니다. 정성스럽게 만든 전시물들과 한복, 태권도복을 입어 행사를 주관하는 임원으로부터 감사의 인사를 받았다고 합니다. 참여한 모든 학생들에게 즐거운 경험이 되었기를 바랍니다. 또한 앞으로도 많은 학생들이 이와같은 행사를 위해 서로 협력하여 준비하고 한국의 문화를 알리며 학창시절의 소중한 추억들을 쌓아가기를 바랍니다.

A preparation meeting for the Diamond Middle School World Language Week.

다이아몬드 중학교 모임이 있었습니다.

This meeting was headlined by a few guests – Lexington High School counselor Maggie Shih, who talked about the role of counselors in the high school, and LCSW’s Sharon Gunda and the Lexington Human Rights Committee’s Mona Ray, who spoke on discrimination, social services and more.

오늘 커뮤니티 센터에서 KOLex 봄 정기 모임이 있었습니다. 오늘은 특별히 초대 손님이 두 분이 계셨고 막간을 이용해서 추가로 한 분이 더 말씀을 해주셔서 더욱 유익했던 시간이었습니다.
